Light snow combined with 40 to 50 mph wind gusts created a period of blowing snow across the county. The AWOS station located at Montevideo-Chippewa County Airport recorded a wind gust of 51 mph and visibility as low as a half mile due to blowing snow.

Snowfall totals across the county were estimated around 2 to 5 inches. The snow was generally light and fluffy, and fell over a period longer than 24 hours.

A combination of snow and strong winds impacted the county Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Snowfall amounts around 1 to 3 inches were estimated across the county, and wind gusts around 40 to 50 mph were measured throughout the event at Chippewa County Airport.

County dispatch reported a tree down just north of Montevideo.

Photos were provided of snapped power pole and several large tree limbs down onto a house. The chaser noted no convergent damage.

An estimated 5 to 8 inches of snow fall across the county, with the bulk of the snow falling on April 2nd.

Several hours of light freezing rain resulted in accumulations up to 0.15 inch of flat ice across the county. Additional snow accumulations around 2 to 5 inches fell on top of the ice resulted in hazardous travel conditions Saturday into Sunday.

An estimated 1 to 2 inches of snow fell across the county with light ice accumulations. Gusty winds over 25 mph combined with heavy snowfall rates resulted in brief whiteout conditions throughout the morning.

The AWOS located at the Montevideo-Chippewa County Airport recorded several hours of extreme wind chills with a minimum recording of -41 degrees.

Strong northeast winds hit this area just after the tornado. Scattered trees were broken or tipped over. One farm lost much of the tin from the roof of a machine shed. Part of another machine shed was blown into a house.

The spotter also reported wind gusts up to 45 mph.

Multiple bands of snow moved through and produced generally 8 to 10 inches of heavy wet snow and 35 mph wind gusts across much of the county.

CoCoRaHS observers measured three to five inches of snow that fell across the county.

The ASOS station located in Montevideo recorded a cold wind chill of -29 degrees.

County Sheriffs reported that numerous calls were received for stranded motorists. Blowing snow and practically zero visibility was said to have lasted several hours. Montevideo airport AWOS recorded a 51mph gust at 5:35 AM.

There was a concentrated area of wind damage from the southeast portion of Montevideo, then northeast for a few miles over rural western Chippewa County. Several trees, sheds and barns were damaged, including major damage to an apartment garage in the City of Montevideo.
