An elderly woman was found dead lying outside her home at 12:11 pm. It is believed she fell, broke her hip and died of hypothermia. The low temperature in Brainderd that morning was -25F and the high temperature for the day was 14F.
According to a deputy state fire marshall, lightning caused a fire that destroyed a landmark restaurant on Gull Lake. No one was injured.
