The AWOS located at the Benson Municipal Airport recorded several hours of extreme wind chills with a minimum recording of -44 degrees.

Interpolated snowfall analysis from CoCoRaHS reports showed four to six inches of accumulation across the county. The highest snowfall accumulation was six inches in Benson, MN.

A band of rain changed over to snow, with visibility dropping to 1/4 mile. Northwest winds increased as the snow was ending, and temperatures fell below freezing. This led to icy roads with significant blowing snow. Several roads were closed.

County Sherriff's Office reported several vehicles went off the roadways into ditches. Worse conditions occurred during the early morning hours with poor visibility, slippery roads, high winds, blowing snow. Benson Airport reported a wind gust of 52 mph at 5:17 AM.

A heavy band of snow, with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour caused significant travel impacts across the region as it moved through. Snowfall totals were 4 to 7 inches across the region.

The worst conditions were Friday during the day. They had whiteout conditions and some road closures. There was lots of drifting and some roads became impassable. Hotels filled up, so 6 to 8 people that were rescued were housed in the armory.
