Trego Creek was running high due to recent heavy rains. An 8 year old boy drowned after being swept away in the creek. M8IW.
An inmate in the yard at the Chillicothe Correctional Institute was struck and killed by lightning. Five others were injured by the lightning strike.
Strong winds of 40 to 50 miles per hour were sustained for several hours. A gust to 62 mph was recorded in Chillicothe. Widespread damage occurred across the region, from trees being blown down on powerlines, to significant crop losses and structural damage.
Heavy rainfall for most of the afternoon hours caused widespread flooding across the county. Thirty six roads were closed across the county. Several culverts were washed away across the county. Three people were rescued from high water on Buckskin Creek.
