A westbound 18-wheeler on Interstate 30 near Horizon Road crossed a concrete divider into the eastbound lanes and crashed. The driver was killed, and two other people involved in the accident were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Temperatures this month ranged from the upper 90s to over 100 degrees during the month of July. A 55-year old woman was found deceased in her car on the 15th. The medical examiner in Dallas determined heat played a role in her death. A heat advisory was in effect on this day.
