Madison storm history

Two women attempted to cross the swollen Rose River at Graves Mountain Lodge in an ATV. When one of the women got out to check on the water, she was knocked off her feet and swept away. The other woman was uninjured and rescued.

Trees blew down across southern Madison County, including along VA-621 South Blue Ridge Turnpike.

US-29 in Madison was covered by at least six inches of flowing water across the road.

A tree blew down near the intersection of US-15 South James Madison Highway and Petersburg Road.

Numerous trees blew down north of Madison on Hampton Village Road, Hebron Church Road, and Ruth Road.

A tree blew down in the 200 block of Spring Branch Road.

A tree blew down along Hebron Valley Road off of US-29 North Seminole Trail.

A tree blew down on East Laurel Drive.

Trees blew down in Shenandoah National Park north of Big Meadows.

A tree blew down onto power lines in the 1400 block of VA-231 Orange Road.

A tree blew down in the 900 block of Wrights Lane.

A tree blew down blocking the roadway near the intersection of Oak Park Road and Beahm Town Road.

There were four reports of trees blown down in the vicinity of Oakpark.

Numerous trees blew down along Meander Run Road heading towards Locust Dale.

Route 670 (Old Blue Ridge Turnpike) was closed due to water flowing onto the road from tributaries of the Robinson River. All smaller roadways upstream were unreachable due to high water.

South F T Valley Road closed in several places where runoff from farmland and small streams were flowing over the road at least 2 feet in depth.

Nethers Road had significant water issues in multiple locations, mainly due to runoff from small streams and farmland. Water was flowing across the road.
