A 27-year-old male died after collapsing at McLarty Motocross Park in Blount County due to a combination of heat stress and underlying health conditions. Heat index values from nearby ASOS stations were in the mid 90s, with temperatures around 88-90F.
A two-year-old boy was struck by lightning and eventually died from the injuries. The injury occurred as the boy was outside helping his family in the garden about 4.5 miles west of Oneonta.
