In Petaluma, a man sought shelter inside of a dumpster trash bin during sub-freezing temperatures to stay warm. He died when a trash truck picked up the dumpster and compacted the contents.
High winds knocked trees down onto power lines which sparked a fire that burned down a small cabin near Fairfax, killing a person inside.
At 10:20 pm Saturday night a huge oak tree, six feet in diameter, fell onto a SUV killing a 46 year-old man.
Several trees fell in western Sonoma County during this storm. One of those trees killed a 49-year-old woman as she walked along Freestone Flat Road near Freestone. The oak tree was approximately 60 feet tall.

The Point Fire started near Stewarts Point Skaggs Springs Road in the Dry Creek valley north of Healdsburg, and was first detected at 12:33 PM on June 16. The fire destroyed ten structures, including three homes, and damaged another two homes. The fire was contained on June 24th.
Several people were overcome by the heat at the American Canyon High School graduation. Three people were taken to the hospital and two more got medical attention on site. Temperatures in the area reached 91 degrees.
