A fatality accident occurred approximately two miles west of De Smet, SD along U.S. Highway 14 near mile marker 375. The driver lost control due to icy conditions likely caused by dense fog and freezing temperatures in the area.

Wider weather episode

Areas of dense fog developed during the early morning hours of April 2nd across portions of southeast South Dakota. With temperatures at or slightly below freezing, slick spots developed on area roadways.
