The month started with the northern half of the zone in Severe(D2) drought with the south in Moderate(D1) drought. The entire zone was placed in Severe(D2) drought by the end of April.

Wider weather episode

No precipitation fell in April for almost all the area which lead to an expansion of Severe

(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought conditions.
