What the National Weather Service wrote
A peak gust of 80 mph was recorded at San Agustin Pass. Other gusts across the zone included 64 mph at the White Sands Missile Range LC-32 site, 63 mph at the Main Post and 62 mph at Building 1830.
The wider storm
An upper low was moving through the Northern Rockies with an associated cold front approaching southern New Mexico. Gusty southwest winds ahead of the front reached up to 80 mph over the area just ahead of the frontal passage.
