Southern Tularosa Basin storm history

The zone started out in Severe(D2) drought. By the end of the month, the southern half of the zone was placed in Extreme(D3) drought.

The zone started in Moderate(D1) drought and on August 22nd was placed in Severe(D2) drought.

The average temperature at the White Sands National Park Cooperative Observer station was 87.4 degrees which was 1.7 degrees warmer than the previous record set in 1951. The high temperature topped 100 degrees nearly every day during the month.

San Augustin Pass recorded a peak gust of 82 mph. Other gusts in the zone included 69 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post, 65 mph at Building 1830 and 60 mph at Condron Field.

A peak wind gust of 74 mph was recorded at San Augustin Pass. Other gusts included 59 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post and 58 mph at Condron Field.

A peak gust of 79 mph was recorded at Salinas Peak on the White Sands Missile Range. Other gusts included 67 mph at San Augustin Pass and 59 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Museum.

The San Augustin Pass Mesonet site recorded a peak gust of 111 mph. Other gusts included 69 mph at the San Andres RAWS, 66 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Building 1830 and 59 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Museum.

The San Augustin Pass Mesonet site recorded a peak gust of 97 mph. Other gusts across the zone included 70 mph at the White Sands Main Post, Building 1830 Denver WIT and Pony all on the missile range. The mesonet site at the Orogrande Gate had a peak gust of 58 mph.

A peak wind gust of 77 mph was reported at San Augustin Pass.

The Mesonet site at San Augustin Pass recorded a peak gust of 75 mph at 610am. Other peak gusts included 72 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Building 1830, 68 mph at the WSMR Main Post and 59 mph at Condron Field.

A peak wind gust of 81 mph was reported at San Augustin Pass. Other peak gusts across the zone included 79 mph at Salinas Peak, 76 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Emre site, 66 mph at Delta Clipper and 61 mph at the Pony site on the missile range.

A tree was blown onto a power line and roofing materials were flying off and damaging cars.

On May 17th, the north half of the zone was placed in Severe(D2) drought while conditions remained the same to the southeast where it continued to be Abnormally Dry(D0).

The Mesonet site at San Augustin Pass recorded a peak gust of 70 mph.

A peak gust of 80 mph was recorded at San Agustin Pass. Other gusts across the zone included 64 mph at the White Sands Missile Range LC-32 site, 63 mph at the Main Post and 62 mph at Building 1830.

A peak gust of 84 mph was recorded at San Augustin Pass. Other gusts in the zone included 59 mph at White Sands Missile Range Building 1830 and 58 mph at the White Sands Museum.

A peak gust of 77 mph was recorded at San Augustin Pass. Other gusts included 69 mph at the EMRE site on the White Sands Missile Range, 66 mph at Condron Field and 59 mph at the Dripping Springs RAWS site.

A peak gust of 87 mph was recorded at San Augustin Pass. Other peak gusts included 65 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Museum and 58 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Building 1830.

A peak gust of 72 mph was recorded at San Augustin Pass. Other peak gusts included 65 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post, 64 mph at the Rad Mesonet site on the missile range and 60 mph at the White Sands Museum.

A peak gust of 71 mph was recorded at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post. A gust of 62 mph was recorded at the White Sands Museum and 60 mph at the Globe Mesonet site.

The site at San Augustin Pass reported a peak gust of 88 mph. Some other peak gusts in the zone included 76 mph 5 miles northeast of San Augustin Pass, 69 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post and 66 mph at Condron Field.

The zone started out the month with Severe(D2) drought over the far northwest with no drought over the south. On August 24th, the northwest was placed into Moderate(D1) drought with no drought over the south.

The month started with Extreme(D3) drought over the northwest and improving to Abnormally Dry(D0) over the southeast. By the end of July, the far northwest was in Severe(D2) drought and no drought conditions south.

The entire zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought conditions.

Extreme(D3) drought continued through May across the entire zone.

The entire zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought through the entire month.

A peak gust of 87 mph occurred at San Augustin Pass. Some other gusts that occurred included 70 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post, 66 mph at EMRE and 62 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Museum as well as the C-Station.

The entire zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought through the month of March.

Extreme(D3) drought remained across the entire zone through the month of February.

The entire zone remained in Severe(D3) drought through the month of January.

The northeast portion of the zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought through the month of December. The remainder of the zone started in Severe(D2) drought but transitioned to Extreme(D3) drought early in the month.

A peak gust of 83 mph was recorded at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post. Other gusts included 73 mph at San Augustin Pass and Emre, 66 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Museum and 61 mph at Building 1830 on the range as well.

The month started with Severe(D2) drought over just the far northeast. The end end of November, Extreme(D3) drought existed over the northeast with Severe(D2) elsewhere.

The northeast portion of the zone remained in Severe(D2) drought through the month.

On September 22nd, Severe(D2) drought conditions moved into far northeastern portions of the zone.

A peak gust of 88 mph was reported at San Augustin Pass. Other gusts across the zone included 65 mph at Condron Field and 60 mph at the White Sands Missile Range main post.

A Mesonet site 5 miles northeast of San Augustin Pass recorded a peak gust of 82 mph. Other gusts included 77 mph at San Augustin Pass, 67 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post and 58 mph northeast of the Main Post.

A peak gust of 72 mph was recorded at San Augustin Pass with a couple 60 mph gusts at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post and 5 miles east-northeast of the Main Post.
