The zone started out in Severe(D2) drought. By the end of the month, the southern half of the zone was placed in Extreme(D3) drought.

Wider weather episode

Another month with most areas receiving below normal monsoon season precipitation lead to all areas of southern New Mexico being put into Severe(D2) to Exceptional(D4) drought.
