Event narrative
The Mesonet site at San Augustin Pass recorded a peak gust of 75 mph at 610am. Other peak gusts included 72 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Building 1830, 68 mph at the WSMR Main Post and 59 mph at Condron Field.
Wider weather episode
An upper low was moving out of Arizona and into the Texas Panhandle region. Just ahead of a cold front, winds gusted over 70 mph along and east of the Organ Mountains.
