The zone started out the month with Severe(D2) drought over the far northwest with no drought over the south. On August 24th, the northwest was placed into Moderate(D1) drought with no drought over the south.

Wider weather episode

Some areas east of the Organ to San Andres Mountains saw improvement to Moderate(D1) or better drought conditions on August 24th.
