San Augustin Pass recorded a peak gust of 82 mph. Other gusts in the zone included 69 mph at the White Sands Missile Range Main Post, 65 mph at Building 1830 and 60 mph at Condron Field.

A deep upper low was moving across the western United States with a 125 knot jet over the region. Strong southwest winds ahead of an approaching cold front reached up to 96 mph.
