Event narrative
The month started with Extreme(D3) drought over the northwest and improving to Abnormally Dry(D0) over the southeast. By the end of July, the far northwest was in Severe(D2) drought and no drought conditions south.
Wider weather episode
Near to above average rainfall helped to improve drought conditions over most of southern New Mexico, especially closer to the Texas border region and the Sacramento Mountains.
