The average temperature at the White Sands National Park Cooperative Observer station was 87.4 degrees which was 1.7 degrees warmer than the previous record set in 1951. The high temperature topped 100 degrees nearly every day during the month.

July was the hottest on record for Southern New Mexico as an upper ridge persisted around the Borderland throughout the month. High temperatures at New Mexico State University topped 100 degrees 28 of the 31 days and the average temperature was 88.2 degrees.
