Event narrative

Three outbuildings damaged and one destroyed. Time estimated via radar.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough axis passed over the state and thunderstorms that had formed along a boundary in the early morning hours strengthened by midday. Despite relatively weak shear profiles, storms were able to organize enough to produce damaging wind gusts in Guthrie county. The storm complex continued into southeast Iowa into the afternoon, remaining below severe limits.

Rainfall in the Des Moines River basin was able to push the river, at Fleur Drive, briefly into flood stage on the 7th as well.
