The status of the drought remained unchanged through the month of July. The extreme (D3) drought persisted across the western half of the zone while severe (D2) conditions continued elsewhere through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Even with persistent monsoon moisture across the region during July, which resulted in above normal precipitation for many areas, the state of the drought remained unchanged through the end of the month.
