The status of the drought remained unchanged through the month of September. Severe (D2) drought persisted across all but the far southwest corner of the zone where extreme (D3) conditions prevailed.

The wider storm

An unsettled weather pattern persisted during much of the month of September. This resulted in above normal precipitation for much of eastern Utah. This allowed the drought conditions to improve in some areas.
