Event narrative

The status of the drought remained unchanged through the month of October. Severe (D2) drought persisted across all but the far southwest corner of the zone where extreme (D3) conditions prevailed.

Wider weather episode

An unsettled weather pattern persisted during much of the month of October. This resulted in above normal precipitation for portions of eastern Utah. This allowed the drought conditions to improve in some areas. Elsewhere, conditions remained relatively unchanged through the end of the month.
