The observer at Parent Bay measured 6 inches of lake effect snow in 24 hours from a mesolow over northern Lake Michigan.

Wider weather episode

Intense mesolow circulations over western Lake Superior and northern Lake Michigan brought moderate to heavy snow to portions of west and central Upper Michigan from the 17th into the 18th. There were several reports of 3-inch per hour snowfall rates in the Ironwood area during the evening of the 17th.
