Event narrative

Emergency managers reported flooding at Sector Los Cocos in Barrio Marias in Moca due to excessive rainfall. Rio Culebrinas, nearby, was also out of its banks. Some low-water crossings were impassable.

Wider weather episode

An approaching polar trough combined with moisture from a stalled frontal system north of the islands resulted in favorable conditions for showers and thunderstorms. Several flooding, mudslides and even hail reports were received.
