Severe to extreme drought conditions persisted across Sac County during December despite above normal precipitation. With the ground frozen, there was little if any recharge of soils and ground water.

Severe to local extreme drought conditions persisted across Iowa in December. Despite generally favorable precipitation in northwest Iowa, frozen ground conditions limited soil and ground water recharge. In southeast Iowa, the drier than normal conditions persisted.
