An area of low pressure moved through North Carolina before tracking northeast off the coast of Virginia. North of the area of low pressure, a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain developed. Ice accumulations totaled two to five tenths of an inch and snow accumulations totaled a coating to four inches. Numerous trees were downed due to the ice. Several accidents and scattered power outages were reported.
