Event narrative
The observer at Steuben measured over 33 inches of lake enhanced snow over a three-day period. The Manistique observer reported 11 inches over the same period. Winds gusting near 40 mph at times also caused blizzard conditions in snow and extreme blowing of snow, especially on the 24th.
Wider weather episode
A rapidly deepening storm system over the Upper Great Lakes produced a long-duration lake enhanced snow event across Upper Michigan from the 21st into the morning of the 26th. Blizzard conditions from lake enhanced snow and blowing snow were also reported across much of the area from the 23rd into the 24th.
