Event narrative

Snow levels fell to as low as around 3000 feet in portions of the Riverside County Mountains on the evening of February 14th, allowing for about 1-3 inches of accumulating snow at these elevations. In Anza, icy road conditions on SR-371 and SR-74 led to multiple trapped vehicles and tow trucks were unable to reach the vehicles, per CalTrans.

Wider weather episode

An inslide slider storm system dove across the Western US on February 14th and 15th. This led to high winds occurring over much of the mountains and desert foothills, as well as caused snow levels to fall to around 3000-4000 feet in Southern California.
