Event narrative

Additional rounds of light to moderate snow occurred in the Riverside County Mountains on February 27th, with more moderate to heavy snow occurring on February 28th. Numerous locations at elevations above 4000 feet received an additional 1 to 2 feet of snow during this time. A trained spotter in Idyllwild reported total snowfall of 17 inches on February 28th. Snow carried over into March 1st as well, with storm total reports reflected in a separate episode.

Wider weather episode

A very powerful winter storm produced additional heavy snow and high wind over portions Southern California still recovering from historic amounts of snowfall. This event eventually set multiple multi-day snowfall records, and required an extensive recovery period that lasted through March. Accumulating snow and high winds continued over into March 1st and 2nd, the totals and reports of which are reflected in a separate episode and event.
