Event narrative
A widespread 7 to 9 inches of snow fell in approximately 15 hours with an isolated amount of 11 inches measured by the spotter at Peavy Falls. The heavy snow caused schools to close throughout Iron County on the 23rd.
Wider weather episode
A deepening Plains low pressure system moving through Lower Michigan generated widespread moderate to heavy lake enhanced snow across much of west and central Upper Michigan from the afternoon of the 22nd into the 24nd.
