Event narrative

Observers measured a widespread 4 to 8 inches of snow over less than a 24-hour period. There was an isolated 10 inch snow total from the observer at Cooks. Manistique Area Schools were closed on the 23rd due to the heavy snow.

Wider weather episode

A deepening Plains low pressure system moving through Lower Michigan generated widespread moderate to heavy lake enhanced snow across much of west and central Upper Michigan from the afternoon of the 22nd into the 24nd.
