Event narrative

Observer reported 6.5 inches of snow overnight 2 miles south-southeast of Honeydew at at an elevation of 1395 feet.

Wider weather episode

Snow was reported all the way to the coast with heavy snow in the mountains as the coldest in a series of storms impacted the region beginning February 20/21. For the next two weeks storms continuously impacted the region with bouts of heavy snow in the mountainous terrain. Anecdotal reports from people who have lived in the area for a long time said this cold period into early March resulted in the heaviest snow at elevations between 1500 and 4000 feet since the 1980s.
