What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

Several homes sustained shingle damage. One garage slid off its foundation. Several trees were snapped or uprooted. There was roof damage and windows were blown in at a commercial site. The most significant damage occurred along Poor Farm Road. Peak winds were estimated near 85 mph.

The wider storm

A squall line of severe thunderstorms organized along the Mississippi River and moved east across western Kentucky from late morning through mid afternoon. Pockets of damaging wind accompanied this line of storms. A few brief squall-line tornadoes occurred. The squall line developed ahead of a cold front trailing south from a surface low pressure system. Diurnal heating contributed to a more unstable atmosphere ahead of the front. A deep 500 mb trough over the western high Plains was preceded by strong southwest mid-level flow of 60 knots or more, which helped organize the convection.

Began near Stella (36.6300, -88.3800).
