Blizzard conditions developed at Barter Island on the evening of the 8th and continued through the morning of the 9th. Winds gusted as high as 54 mph at Barter Island during the event.

A cold front moving from west to east along the Arctic Coast brought blizzard conditions to the Beaufort Sea coast.
