Event narrative

Thunderstorms with very heavy rain moved through an area near the McKinney wildfire in the late afternoon and evening, around 230 PM to 8 PM PST. Rainfall was estimated to be at a rate of up to 1 inch per hour, with 1 to 3 inches total. This created 2 mud slides that closed portions of Highway 96. The first was reported 2 miles east of the community of Klamath River at 327 PM PST, and the second 2 miles southwest of Klamath River at 635 PM PST.
