Event narrative

High winds developed over the Bering Strait Coast as a front moved to the north over the area. Wales reported a gust to 63 mph, while Tin City reported a gust to 59 mph and Teller reported a gust to 54 mph.

Wider weather episode

On October 23, 2023 a 996 mb area of low pressure moved northward over the Chukotsk Peninsula of eastern Russia. A series of fronts associated with this low traveled north along the west coast of Alaska bringing a combination of strong winds, heavy snow and elevated surf.
