Bering Strait Coast storm history

The Wales AWOS (PAIW) reported consistent wind gusts from the south of between 35 mph and 50 mph. At the same time the visibility was reported to be at or below 1/4 mile in heavy snow and blowing snow.

The Teller Airport AWOS (PATE) reported meeting blizzard criteria at 0850 on 12/11/25. Heavy snowfall and low visibilities less than or equal to 1/4 miles were reported from the site between 0850 to 1335.

Blizzard conditions developed at PFKT (Brevig Mission Airport) prior to dawn and continued through midday. The visibility remained at or below 1/4 mile with falling snow and winds gusting as high as 63 mph.

Winds consistently gusted at or above 50 mph for approximately 7 hours with a peak gust of 64 mph registered at Wales (PAIW).

High winds developed during the overnight hours of November 18th and continued into the morning of November 19th. Winds at Teller (PATE) gusted as high as 66 mph, while at Wales (PAIW) wind gusts to 73 mph.

Coastal flooding was reported along the Bering Strait coast as strong winds pushed water onshore. Teller officials reported that the Teller Road was under water.

The Wales (PAIW) AWOS reported blizzard conditions for a number of hours. In addition to the blizzard conditions, wind gusts of up to 59 mph were reported.

The Teller (PATE) AWOS reported wind gusts of up to 64 mph. Blizzard conditions accompanied the strong winds for a number of hours.

Wind gusts of up to 62 mph were observed at the Tin City (PATC) AWOS.

Blizzard conditions were observed at the Wales (PAIW) AWOS. Wind gusts of 60 mph began at 06:13 and continued through 12:52, with a peak wind gusts of 73 mph. These winds were accompanied by visibility of 1/4 mile or less in blowing snow.

High winds developed over the Bering Strait Coast as a front moved to the north over the area. Wales reported a gust to 63 mph, while Tin City reported a gust to 59 mph and Teller reported a gust to 54 mph.
