Drought — Wilkinson, Mississippi

2023-11-01 · Wilkinson, Mississippi

Event narrative

The entire county was in D3-D4 drought for the entire month.

Wider weather episode

Drought conditions that started late summer continued across southwest and coastal Mississippi through the month of November. By this point in the year, multiple observational sites had only measured annual rainfall amounts of around 25 inches. That put the deficit at roughly half of climatological normal. The only except was Jackson County, when a few inches of rain fell in the second half of the month which changed the drought condition there from D3-D4 to D2-D3.
