Multiple SNOTEL observations suggest widespread snowfall totals of 12 to 24 inches across the Sierra Madre Range. A maximum estimated snowfall total of 38 inches was recorded at the Little Snake River SNOTEL site, 12 miles SW of Encampment at an elevation of 8928 feet.

Wider weather episode

A prolonged period of very heavy mountain snow was observed in the Snowy and Sierra Madre ranges, with multiple SNOTEL observations recording 3 to 4 feet of total snowfall accumulation.
