Event narrative

Unalaska Roads Department reported heavy rain in Unalaska washed out several gravel roadways in the surrounding area. Blocked culverts caused additional street flooding and also washed large crevasses up to 4 ft deep in some of the roadways.

Wider weather episode

An atmospheric river moving through the Aleutians on March 19th - March 21nd dropped heavy rain of 3-5 inches storm total over the Onalaska/Dutch Harbor area. The heavy rain came in 2 strong pulses, one on 3/19 of up to 3 which started flooding in the area, with a second pulse overnight on 3/21 which exacerbated flooding in the area.
