Event narrative
Strong southerly gap winds developed the afternoon of the 11th and continued until just after midnight on the 12th. The DOT Antler Creek mesonet station reported a park gust of 78 mph.
Wider weather episode
A strong area of low pressure moving north through the Bering Sea combined with a strong area of high pressure over the Yukon Territory brought high winds to the West Coast of Alaska as well as passes in the Alaska Range.
