Event narrative

A winter storm with snow and high winds caused dangerous road conditions and road closures. State Highway 34 closed from Conda to the Wyoming border. State Highway 36 closed from the State Highway 34 intersection to Ovid. Snowfall amounts were in the 2 to 4 inch range with the COOP observer in Preston measuring 3 inches.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through Idaho with snow, strong winds which caused blizzards in several zones and extensive travel problems. Many roads closed with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph in nearly all of southeast Idaho.
