A shortwave trough advanced across the Upper Ohio Valley on January 6th, as a surface low tracked across the Appalachians to the Mid-Atlantic region. Snow overspread the region during the morning and continued into the early evening hours, with higher totals noted in the enhanced terrain. Some spotty freezing rain reports were also noted.
