Event narrative

Gusts gusts 50 to 60 mph were occurred at Clatsop Spit and Megler Bridge. There was damage to a home where shingles were blown off the roof. A few tree branches blown off too.

Wider weather episode

On the evening of January 5th a compact low pressure system associated with a Pacific frontal system moved to near the mouth of the Columbia River. Strong winds briefly developed in the Astoria area.
