A 42 foot Sail boat capsized in rough surf and ran aground at Nedonna Beach (south of Nehalem) resulting in two fatalities.
Tillamook County Sheriff's officer reported that a swimmer died at Nehalem Bay State Park after being swept out to sea by a rip current.
A teen on a boogie board was swept out to sea at Rockaway Beach. When his father lost sight of him, the father went into the water to find his son but never returned. Both drowned.
The day after the snow on February 22nd, a woman who was delivering newspapers died after she was pinned underneath her car on a steep icy Astoria street. Astoria saw around 1 inch of snow from this event.
Temperatures in the mid 80s to mid 90s lead to people seeking relief at local rivers, lakes, and beaches. One swimmer drowned at Siltcoos Lake south of Florence during this event.
Many weather reporting stations along the north Oregon coast measured sustained winds between 40 and 60 mph, and several of them had gusts between 73 and 79 mph. The winds downed several large trees, and Pacific Power estimated 22,000 customers along the coast were without power.
A man swimming along the coast near Tillamook was unable to swim to shore because of a rip current, and drowned.
Media reports that a large sneaker wave took three people wading in the water near the north jetty of Tillamook out to see. Two of the people made it back to shore safely, but one did not, and was presumed to have drowned.

A man was struck by a large wave while rock climbing at Cape Kiwanda in Pacific City, Oregon. The wave swept him into the ocean where he drowned. His body was found May 5, 2014 near Cape Lookout in Tillamook County.

A tsunami generated by an eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'api volcano reached the U.S. West coast. A tsunami wave height of 0.2 feet was measured at the Astoria tide gauge on the 15th. No reports of damage or injury are known at this time.

Strong south winds were reported along the north Oregon coast with sustained winds between 45 and 55 mph with a peak gust to 77 mph at Garibaldi (GARO3.) Around 2030PST tree branches were reported by ODOT over highway 26 near Necanicum resulting in traffic delays.

The seas at buoy 46029 (20NM West of Columbia River Mouth) rose to 26 feet at 11 seconds which would bring high surf conditions to the coastline. High Surf conditions continued at times through 1/3/2022 at 1640PST, then seas gradually subsided.
