Event narrative
The day after the snow on February 22nd, a woman who was delivering newspapers died after she was pinned underneath her car on a steep icy Astoria street. Astoria saw around 1 inch of snow from this event.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure system drifting southward along the Oregon Coast pulled cold air all the way to the coast and brought snow levels down to sea level. This allowed for snow accumulations all the way down to coastal communities. We also saw around 1-3 inches of snow inland in the Willamette Valley, but there were no known impacts.
