Observers reported widespread snow amounts of 4 to 6 inches across the county in an approximate 12-hour period. The heavy wet snow combined with north wind gusts near 40 mph caused some tree damage and power outages while closing schools throughout the county on the 3rd.

A powerful storm system tracking through the Great Lakes brought moderate to heavy wet snow and strong north to northeast winds to Upper Michigan from the evening of the 2nd into the morning of the 4th.
