Observers measured a widespread 4 to 6 inches of wet, heavy snow across southern Schoolcraft County in less than a 15-hour period. The wet snow caused hazardous travel and knocked out power to nearly 500 customers while closing schools throughout the county on the 3rd.

Wider weather episode

A powerful storm system tracking through the Great Lakes brought moderate to heavy wet snow and strong north to northeast winds to Upper Michigan from the evening of the 2nd into the morning of the 4th.
