Blizzard conditions developed during the morning hours at Deering (PADE) and Buckland (PABL) on April 12th. Wind gusts to 64 mph were reported at Deering and to 48 mph at Buckland. These strong winds were accompanied by visibility in blowing snow of less than a quarter of a mile.
Wider weather episode
A strong Bering low pushed a front across the West Coast, Arctic Coast, and into the Interior of Alaska. This storm produced widespread areas of locally heavy snow, blowing snow, and blizzard conditions on the West coast, and Chinook winds in the Alaska and Brooks Range.
