Blizzard in Eastern Beaufort Sea Coast, Alaska

Blizzard conditions developed during the afternoon hours of April 12th at Point Thomson. Wind gusts to 40 mph were reported, accompanied by visibility in blowing snow of less than a quarter of a mile.

A strong Bering low pushed a front across the West Coast, Arctic Coast, and into the Interior of Alaska. This storm produced widespread areas of locally heavy snow, blowing snow, and blizzard conditions on the West coast, and Chinook winds in the Alaska and Brooks Range.
